Community art for EDUC 310 class
You know how much I adore community art. So it felt quite fun and natural that today for my EDUC 310 class we decided to follow where inspiration lead. It was the conflux of two things.
One was last week, a Nazi entered a Psych 210 class, threw around a bunch of slurs, and got rightfully chased right the fuck out of there. It has left the campus feeling galvanized, and at the same time frustrated and vulnerable.
Additionally, yesterday our professor came across a bench in the Quad which was covered in Post-It notes. They were each compliments, and a sign invited people to take one for themselves.
So Professor Shea decided it would be lovely on this unseasonably warm October day to make some of our own notes, and post them on all the benches around Drumheller Fountain. It was a gorgeous day for a walk outside as part of an over 2 hour class. Though the logistics were not considered, in how sticky notes would or would NOT stick to stone benches, it was a lovely exercise. I took photos of many of the benches, adorned with 3-5 notes from each of almost 100 students in my class. Some were truly inspirational, some made my heart hurt a little. Overall, a nice experience to start our afternoon.
This was one of my favorites.
